Lisa Thai,
Marriage and Family Therapy Intern
As an Intern, Lisa exclusively serves our clientele seeking cash-pay services on a pay-what-you-can sliding scale basis. Lisa enjoys providing therapy to couples, families, and individuals; she works with clients age 13 and up.
As the eldest daughter of immigrants, Lisa developed a spirit to serve and care for others at a young age. Growing up in a household where her parents' immigrant experiences were a central theme, she was deeply influenced by the stories they shared. These narratives were filled with accounts of resilience, strength, and the determination required to adapt to new environments while preserving cultural values and roots. This early exposure not only shaped her character but also sparked a lifelong interest in understanding the complexities of the human experience. Lisa’s desire to make sense of others; contexts and behaviors became a driving force in her personal and professional life.
Lisa views therapy as a collaborative, goal-driven, and relationship-based process designed to support individuals through changes in their lives. She believes that effective therapy hinges on the partnership between therapist and client, where both work together towards common goals. By creating an environment of hope, understanding, and non-judgment, Lisa aims to foster self-awareness in her clients and help them devise practical strategies for behavior change. Her approach is rooted in empathy and respect, ensuring that each client feels heard and valued throughout their therapeutic journey.
When not in the office, you can find Lisa dancing salsa and bachata in the Eugene community, enjoying the natural beauty of Oregon through long hikes, experimenting with new recipes, and picking up the latest book on financial literacy to understand the world of finance.
