Gonzalo is a bilingual (Spanish/English) Social Worker who provides therapy to couples, families, and individuals, ages 15 and older. Gonzalo is a Latino man and uses he/él pronouns. He has a License in Clinical Social Work (LCSW). He has been providing direct mental health support services in various settings over the last 20 years. Before getting his mental health degrees, he spent several years in the field of education teaching English as a Second Language, Spanish, and leadership skills in high schools, companies, and universities, both in Argentina and the USA.
After devoting more than a decade as a psychologist to the mental health field in Argentina, Gonzalo embarked on a new chapter in his journey by relocating to the United States to pursue a Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Arkansas. Since 2006, his professional ventures have encompassed a variety of settings, with a recent emphasis on enhancing mental healthcare in higher education. His clinical approach is rooted in various therapeutic techniques, with a particular emphasis on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction techniques. These interventions enable him to guide individuals through life's challenges and transitions.
His true passion lies in providing support and empowerment to underserved and marginalized communities hailing from a myriad of backgrounds, with special emphasis on affirmative practice interventions for LGBTQIA+ and Latino community members. Gonzalo empowers clients by using a person-centered and collaborative approach, offering an authentic, honest, and kind communication style.
As a Gottman-trained Therapist, he has completed extensive training in the Gottman Method, a research-based approach to couple’s therapy. He also received training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, developed by Dr. Sue Johnson. This knowledge and extensive clinical practice allow him to provide effective, evidence-based interventions to help couples strengthen their relationships, improve communication, and build lasting intimacy.
On a more personal note, Gonzalo enjoys connecting with people, having fun, and engaging in many types of adventures. He believes that for humanity to continue growing, we need to create and foster community, relying on one another to acknowledge our shadow and maximize our wisdom. When not working, he loves to spend time being creative in the kitchen trying out new recipes, riding his bike, sharing time with friends and family, or connecting with nature.
